Mayorkun: The Music Mayor

If superheroes can take breaks and mainstream ballers need time out and casual workers go on leave, how much more the Mayor of a whole city who delivered us from the snares of boredom with constant delivery of melodious and top tier music as if he interned at FedEx.

Like expectant children, we have waited for a long overdue sophomore. Now, the MAYOR OF LAGOS is BACK IN OFFICE to serve the starved and feed the famished. Enjoy this amazing body of work.

Soldier Boy

Celebrities are human too and should have validity for their feelings. Feels like Mayorkun had some issues going on in his head and he needed to spill it out on this trap-like record. A soldier is known for resilience, strength and tenacity. Everyday can’t be fun, but sadness shouldn’t cloud your thoughts of who you really are. Everything is going to be ok, soldier.

Back in Office

Like King Kong, this is ‘Of Lagos’ bragging with his full chest, stamping his feet saying ‘the Mayor is back’. It’s a danceable record with heavy drums and percussion, yes! Amapiano.

Freedom

A new ‘shade’ of Mayorkun who proves himself as an African ambassador. He depicts a people in bondage trying to set themselves free and will go any length and do whatever needs to be done to gain freedom.

Let Me Know

Typical Mayorkun with a banger. This record is about three years old and shows him trying to woo a lady where he states who he is to different people. An amazing track.

Desire ft Gyakie

A guest feature of Ghanaian Gyakie whose impeccable voice, flow and rhythm into this afrobeats record. Another Nigerian-Ghanaian collabo we will always refer to.

No Strings Attached ft Joeboy

A ready hit, club anthem where these men talk about what happens in Lagos clubs. ‘Follow me go house, but no strings attached’. The breeze has blown, now Lagosians have been exposed.

Holy Father ft Victony

An automatic fans’ favorite with super talented Victony where it felt like he was talking to a babe and subtly likening her to God. You can’t deny the creativity Mayorkun brought into this record by flipping his verse, bringing a different angle.

Nakupenda

A sound made in South Africa, with heavy log drums where Mayorkun spoke Swahili. As the Mayor that he is, he ate this record without leaving crumbs.

Feel Am ft Flavor

A party song featuring the king of highlife music. This song has its target outside Nigeria, particularly people in Liberia and Ghana. Mayorkun will definitely have the attention of music consumers from eastern Nigerian market with this special record with Flavour.

Piece of Mind

Like every other person, Mayorkun had a downtime at some point in his life. This mid-tempo record has him pouring out his mind.

Jay Jay ft DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small

You can’t go wrong with an amapiano record, especially with a South African on it, oh how sweet, literally. Another record I’m looking forward to its success because it’s nothing short of incredible.

Oluwa

A perfect outro talking reflecting the ills of our society with politicians‘ ‘choping’ money in this harsh economy, but an optimistic Mayorkun is looking forward to making so much money to live a good life.

A perfectly lined album with various messages to pass to different individuals across ages. A Mayor for one is a Mayor for all. Truly, Mayorkun is back in office.
